Step 1
Flash the firmware
This requires Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. The browser will ask you to select the M5Atom USB port.
- Connect the M5Atom Lite using a USB-C data cable.
- Click Install.
- Select the serial port of the M5Atom.
- Wait until flashing is complete.
- Unplug and reconnect the device.
Use a real USB data cable. Many USB-C cables are charge-only cables and cannot be used for flashing.

Required hardware
Not recommended
Other ESP32 boards, ESP32-S3 boards or custom IR circuits are for advanced users only and may require a modified firmware.
After flashing
Keep the IR Unit connected to the M5Atom. For normal operation, power the gateway with a USB power supply.
Step 3
First setup
On first boot, the gateway opens its own Wi-Fi network:
Wi-Fi: OpenATV-IR-Gateway
Password: openatv1234
Address: http://192.168.4.1/- Connect to the OpenATV-IR-Gateway Wi-Fi network.
- Open http://192.168.4.1/setup.
- Enter and save your home Wi-Fi credentials.
- Then open http://openatv-ir.local/ or the IP address shown by your router.
Once connected to your home network, the device usually appears in the router as openatv-ir-gateway.

Remote-control bundles
Only remotes with an available bundle file on the server are shown. Click the image of the matching remote control to download the related JSON bundle. Image and bundle always use the same filename, only with a different extension.
Help
Common problems
No USB port visible
Try another USB cable, another USB port or install the required USB serial driver.
No web interface
Connect to the OpenATV-IR-Gateway Wi-Fi network and open http://192.168.4.1/.
IR does not react
Check the IR Unit, ensure line of sight and open /ir/sniff on the gateway for testing.
